The lesson of New York Knicks guard Jeremy Lin

We’ve all read, seen and heard a lot about New York Knicks phenomenon Jeremy Lin.

If you just got back from your trip to the moon (lovely this time of year), Lin has sparked the Knicks to a 7-1 mark since he took over the point guard position.

The more important lesson of his story, though, isn’t how he was from Harvard, how he was cut by Warriors and Rockets (whoops) or whatever.

Kentucky coach John Calipari on ESPN’s “Mike in Mike in the Morning,” said it best Thursday.

Calipari said Lin  ”was ready and prepared when an opportunity came to him … that’s the story.”

That’s so true …  and something maybe more than a few of us could take to heart.

Be ready.

Think about Lin. He was undrafted in 2010. He has been cut from two NBA teams … since December. But he signed with the Knicks, got a chance due to injuries and poor team play and the rest is … the present.

So just do a Lin-side job (sorry) … have your ducks in a row, your tie straightened, whatever. Just be ready to go. In life. In love. In business.

Take some time to decide where you are and where you want to go. Then, work hard, keep your eyes and ears open and be like Jeremy Lin.

BE

READY.
